Born to Nicholas D'Agosto Jr.
& Genevieve
Feltwater in Jersey City, NJ on Feb. 22, 1943. Nick attended P.S. 20
Grammar School and Henry Snyder High School
in Jersey City. Nick received his BS degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in
1965 and a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in
1967. He started his career as an electronics engineer working for Bell Telephone
Laboratories in 1965. In 1966 he married Arlene
Alvino, who was an employee at Stevens that he met at a fraternity party at Beta Theta
Pi in the summer of 1963. They initially lived in an apartment in Jersey City but
later bought a house in Piscataway, NJ where they resided until 1978.
A son, Nicholas
IV, was born on August 5, 1969. Their second child, Danielle,
was born on April 17, 1975. Nick coached both his children in a variety of sports
within town, including baseball, softball, basketball and soccer (which he knew little
about). Nick started his career at Bell Telephone
Labs and later went to work for Adaptive Technology in Piscataway.
In 1978 he accepted a
position with Dictaphone Corporation and moved to Trumbull, CT where he and his family
still reside. After a 28 year career with
Dictaphone, the division he was in was sold to
NICE
Systems where Nick worked as a project engineer for 2
additional years before retirement. Nick is the proud grandfather of Nicholas
V, born to his son and daughter-in-law on Sept. 9, 2000. Young
Nicholas is the light of his life and with the birth of his newest
grandson, Anthony, he is now twice as
proud! 60th Birthday Cruise Nick is an avid sports fan and faithful follower of the New York Yankees, a passion he inherited from his father and passed onto his son. Having an engineering mind, he would often times repair everything from a washing machine to a leaky faucet. He designed the deck on their house in Trumbull, and together with his wife, completed the entire construction project themselves. Later he generated an architectural design for a sun room addition that was built on top of the deck. During his career, he received numerous patents for a variety of inventions, all of which typically were in the voice communications area. Computers became a hobby for Nick while working at Dictaphone. He enjoys surfing the internet and communicating with and finding family over the internet.
