It is historically ascertained that the house of D’Agosto – also surnamed simply Agosto – finds its very ancient origin in the land of Sicily. It enjoyed the praise of Nobility in Messina in the XVth century as was illustrated by highly regarded personages who were charged with important responsibilities. Worthy of note are: Geronia, who was the Judge of the High Court in 1424; Pino, who held the post of Senator of Messina in the biennial term from 1436-37; and, Giovanni Maria, who was Captain of Castroreale in 1473.

With the passing of time this distinctive family divided into further branches who became established in Calabria, in the Neapolitan area, and in other localities of Meridional Italy.

The Coat of Arms of the House, here reproduced in color, reads thus: "from azure (blue), to the Chevron or argent (silver), accompanied by three stars of the same."
